Yes, all of our properties offer accommodation for staff. Freycinet Lodge has two types of staff accommodation: an onsite bunkhouse and an offsite location on the Freycinet Peninsula. The bunkhouse consists of double and single bedrooms, with shared bathroom, lounge, kitchen and laundry facilities. Our second location is located approximately 5 minutes' drive from the Lodge and consists of a number of houses.
All accommodation is fully furnished, including bed linen and cooking equipment. Please enquire with People Services for rental prices.
Many employees, especially our seasonal staff and working holiday makers, come to Freycinet Lodge and our other properties without their own transport. We ask all new employees to make their own way to the Lodge to commence induction before starting work – we can assist with transport options if required.
If your assigned staff accommodation is offsite, you will need to arrange your own transport to and from work. Having your own vehicle is useful if you wish to explore the broader area, as there is very limited local public transport.
Our People Services team will provide you with more information about induction if you are offered a position with Freycinet Lodge.
Yes, all of our employees are required to wear a uniform. In most cases, we will provide branded items of clothing such as shirts, aprons and jackets at no charge – we ask employees to provide their own black trousers and appropriate footwear.
The People Services team will provide you with more specific information regarding uniforms if you are offered a position with Freycinet Lodge.
All of our positions are covered by the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2010. Many positions are casual and are paid by the hour in accordance with their classification under the Award.
If you would like to know more about the rate of pay for a particular position, please contact the People Services team member listed at the bottom of the relevant job advertisement.
When you apply for a position, your resume is uploaded to our online recruitment system and will be reviewed by the People Services team. You will receive an acknowledgement email to confirm that your application has been received. Many of our casual positions are advertised on an ongoing basis and do not have a specific closing date, so applications are reviewed as they are received. We endeavour to contact applicants as soon as we can to keep them updated on the progress of their application, but cannot always respond immediately.
If you would like to know about the status of a vacancy, please contact the People Services team member listed at the bottom of the relevant job advertisement.
Freycinet Lodge is situated within the Freycinet National Park and offers beautiful natural surroundings, including bushland and beaches. Outdoor activities such as fishing, swimming, kayaking and bushwalking are popular. The nearby town of Coles Bay has a convenience store and small grocery/general goods store.
The nearest larger town is Bicheno, located 30 minutes from Coles Bay. Bicheno offers a wide variety of shops and facilities including an IGA supermarket, local library, pharmacy, ATMs, hair salon, doctor’s surgery, police station and post office.
Telstra is the most reliable service provider at Freycinet and along the east coast of Tasmania. If you bring a SIM card on another network, e.g. Optus or Vodafone, you may not have consistent coverage. This is also true for mobile broadband access.
Free WiFi is available in the main hotel building; however it is not suitable for streaming or high volume downloads. Some employees choose to arrange their own wireless broadband access (i.e. via a prepaid dongle).
New employees only need to bring their personal belongings with them to the property, as all of our staff accommodation is fully furnished. You may also bring your own bed linen if you wish. We recommend that you bring some warm clothing and sturdy shoes to cater for all types of weather.
